About Stock Exchange of Thailand.

Stock Exchange of Thailand is the principal cash-equity venue of Thailand. Founded in 1975, it operates under the oversight of Securities and Exchange Commission, Thailand (SEC (Thai)), and its leading benchmarks are SET Index, SET50, SET100. Listing standards are set out in the SET Listing Rules; SEC Act B.E. 2535.

Thailand’s principal equity venue, with index weight in energy, banking and infrastructure. Non-resident holders frequently sit in the NVDR (Non-Voting Depository Receipt) structure, a recurring consideration when a foreign position is pledged.

On SET specifically, eligibility turns on where the name sits in the market’s liquidity. SET50 and SET100 constituents — the large energy, banking, infrastructure and telecom names that carry the index weight — have the free float and daily turnover that support the highest loan-to-value; mai-listed and thinly traded small-caps are financed more selectively. Names eligible for the exchange’s securities borrowing and lending list, largely SET50 stocks and liquid ETFs, are a useful read on which lines the market itself treats as liquid, and on where a foreign holding sits between ordinary shares, the foreign board and NVDRs.

03 · Eligibility
For Institutional Positions

What qualifies on SET.

SET is an established but selective venue; we weigh eligibility against the stock’s liquidity, free float, and how concentrated the holding is.

For any given SET position, our review looks at: free float and daily traded volume against the size of the transaction; your status (controlling shareholder, director, substantial shareholder) and the disclosure that follows; the issuer’s sector and listing segment; and what the transaction must do (LTV, tenor, currency, recourse, custody).

Framework cited on SET.

The principal regulatory reference on SET is SEC Notification TorJor. 7/2552. How it applies to any single transaction — reporting levels, step thresholds — turns on the underlying rules and national-law overlays, which we map against your contemplated transaction at the structuring stage alongside the counsel you appoint.

The citations above are public regulatory references, given for orientation only and not as legal advice. Take independent legal advice in the relevant jurisdiction for any specific transaction.

05 · FAQ
SET · Stock Loans

What holders ask about SET.

01Which SET-listed shares qualify for a stock loan?
As a rule, the more liquid the name, the cleaner the facility. SET50 and SET100 constituents support the highest loan-to-value; mai and thin small-caps are taken case by case. We quote indicative terms only after reviewing the specific line — its free float, daily turnover, any lock-up, and whether it is held as ordinary shares, foreign-board shares or NVDRs.
02How much can I borrow against a SET-listed holding?
The loan-to-value is set to the specific holding — free float, daily traded volume, volatility, and your regulatory standing. We quote indicative ratios only after reviewing the actual SET position.
03Which SET segments can I borrow against?
We look at each case across the segments Stock Exchange of Thailand runs: SET Main Board; mai (Market for Alternative Investment). Higher tiers are usually simpler to structure, as free float and liquidity are deeper.
04What currency can the facility be drawn in?
The default is THB, the listing currency. Cross-currency structures are common and readily arranged.
05What is the settlement cycle on SET?
Equities listed on Stock Exchange of Thailand generally settle on T+2. We align the pledge and the drawdown mechanics to that cycle.
06What is the disclosure threshold on SET?
The principal level is 5%, under SEC Notification TorJor. 7/2552. Crossing it triggers a notification; we map the exact thresholds to your holding.
07How long does a SET stock loan take to arrange?
Indicative terms within one to two business days of an enquiry, with documentation and funding usually inside about three weeks, depending on custody onboarding and the size of the line.
