About Shanghai Stock Exchange.

Shanghai Stock Exchange is the principal cash-equity venue of China. Founded in 1990 (re-established); historic Shanghai Stock Exchange from 1891, it operates under the oversight of China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC), and its leading benchmarks are SSE Composite, SSE 50, STAR 50. Listing standards are set out in the SSE Stock Listing Rules; CSRC administrative measures.

Mainland China’s senior board, home to its largest state-linked, financial and industrial issuers. Non-resident access to A-shares runs principally through Northbound Stock Connect and the QFII / RQFII channels, so a pledge here is structured differently from an open-market venue and mapped case by case.

On the SSE specifically, eligibility turns on where the name sits in the market. Main Board constituents of the SSE 50 and SSE Composite — the largest state-linked, financial and industrial issuers — carry the free float and daily turnover that support a higher loan-to-value; STAR Market (Sci-Tech Innovation Board) names run more volatile, trade under a wider 20% daily price limit and are financed more selectively. Foreign access is principally via Northbound Stock Connect and QFII / RQFII, which shapes how a position is sized and how the pledge is perfected.

03 · Eligibility
For Institutional Positions

What qualifies on SSE.

SSE ranks among the deepest equity pools anywhere; eligibility turns on the stock itself — its free float, daily traded volume, and how concentrated the line is.

For any given SSE position, our review looks at: free float and daily traded volume against the size of the transaction; your status (controlling shareholder, director, substantial shareholder) and the disclosure that follows; the issuer’s sector and listing segment; and what the transaction must do (LTV, tenor, currency, recourse, custody).

04 · Disclosure
CSRC

Framework cited on SSE.

The principal regulatory reference on SSE is Securities Law of the PRC Art. 63. How it applies to any single transaction — reporting levels, step thresholds — turns on the underlying rules and national-law overlays, which we map against your contemplated transaction at the structuring stage alongside the counsel you appoint.

The citations above are public regulatory references, given for orientation only and not as legal advice. Take independent legal advice in the relevant jurisdiction for any specific transaction.

SSE · Stock Loans

What holders ask about SSE.

01Which Shanghai-listed shares qualify for a stock loan?
As a rule, the more liquid the name, the cleaner the facility. SSE 50 and larger SSE Composite Main Board constituents support the highest loan-to-value; STAR Market and thin small-caps are taken case by case. We quote indicative terms only after reviewing the specific line — its free float, daily turnover, the access route into it, and any lock-up or reduction restriction.
02How much can I borrow against an SSE-listed holding?
The loan-to-value is set to the specific holding — free float, daily traded volume, volatility, and your regulatory standing. We quote indicative ratios only after reviewing the actual SSE position.
03Which SSE segments can I borrow against?
We look at each case across the segments Shanghai Stock Exchange runs: Main Board; STAR Market (Sci-Tech Innovation Board, with registration-based listing). Higher tiers are usually simpler to structure, as free float and liquidity are deeper.
04What currency can the facility be drawn in?
The default is CNY, the listing currency. Cross-currency structures are common and readily arranged.
05What is the settlement cycle on SSE?
Equities listed on Shanghai Stock Exchange generally settle on T+1. We align the pledge and the drawdown mechanics to that cycle.
06What is the disclosure threshold on SSE?
The principal level is 5%, under Securities Law of the PRC Art. 63. Crossing it triggers a notification; we map the exact thresholds to your holding.
07How long does an SSE stock loan take to arrange?
Indicative terms within one to two business days of an enquiry, with documentation and funding usually inside about three weeks, depending on custody onboarding and the size of the line.
